Meet the Teams
Carleton University
Recognized as one of Carleton’s Competitive Clubs, the Ravens Equestrian team is dedicated to bringing equestrians of all levels, from novice to serious competitors, together in a fun, dynamic team environment. To allow for the continuing development of our riders, we have an established lesson program with our head coach Taylor Brooks out of Taylor Brooks Equestrian.
McGill University
The McGill Equestrian Team is the only team from Quebec competing on the OCEA circuit. For McGill Eq, our team dynamic is just as important as our competitive success; we focus on friendship both in and out of the show ring. Our team is based out of Valkyr Stables.
Queen's University
The Queen’s Equestrian Team was officially founded in 2008, but has attended Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association shows since the beginning of the OCEA. Our team works as a branch of the QEC, a Queen’s recreational club to provide a non-competitive branch that is affordable and accessible to Queen’s students. Our team proudly rides out of Stonemills and ADK stables and we are coached by Nicole Scott.
University Of Trent
The Trent Equestrian Team has been apart of the OCEA since the beginning in 2007. Proudly guided and coached by Juliana Newport and Kevin Sweeney of Kildare Stables, the competitive team and non-competitive club continuously work towards developing our skills and horsemanship throughout lessons and shows. Playing active roles in the overall success of the East Zone and OCEA Circuit, is equally important to our team as our close-knit team dynamic. We are happy to rejoin the East Zone in the 2026-27 season!
University of Ottawa
As the first Canadian intercollegiate equestrian team in recent history, the Gee-Gees are entering into another season of competition in both the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and the Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association (OCEA). The team provides competitive opportunities for students in hunt seat equitation at all levels and is based out of Stratford-Fox Run Equestrian, coached by Aimée Aubin.

Halle is passionate about supporting and growing the equestrian community within the East Zone. She has been riding for 8 years, primarily competing in eventing, which has helped her develop dedication, leadership, and strong teamwork skills. Throughout her involvement on the Trent Equestrian Team, including serving as treasurer, she has gained experience in organization, communication, and representing fellow riders. Halle is approachable, dependable, and committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment for riders of all levels.

My name’s Emma Uba. Last year I was East Zone’s membership coordinator and was captain of the Queen’s Equestrian Team. This year I’ll be continuing as Captain and eager to help the growth of the OCEA. I have been part of the OCEA since 2023 seeing the development post-covid. I am eager to support east zone in continuing to grow and thrive, helping uphold values of horsemanship, integrity, positivity, sportsmanship and most importantly fun across all the zones. I will bring integrity, honesty and dedication to the role.

As a member of the Queen’s Equestrian Team for the past two years, Miranda has also served on the executive team and currently holds the position of East Zone Secretary. Through her experience in this role, she has developed a strong appreciation for the communication, coordination, and administrative responsibilities involved in keeping the zone running smoothly. She is committed to continuing to foster a positive, supportive, and sportsmanlike environment while bringing dependability, strong organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset to her role as East Zone Secretary.

Over the past couple of years that Caroline has competed with the OCEA, she has always admired how committed each member is to the welfare of all horses. Caroline is determined to make sure this initiative thrive. With her organizational skills, leadership attitude, devotion to the success of the OCEA, and overall love for the sport, she will ensure that every single horse is treated kindly and with respect. Caroline has always loved how this sport allows you to bond with an animal, which makes her certain that in this role, she would treat every horse if it were her own, ensuring their safety and prioritizing their welfare.
